Scan-Based Question Capture
The app uses an OCR pipeline integrated with an LLM to read handwritten and printed questions. The capture flow is optimized for real-world conditions, including poor lighting, low-resolution images, and partially erased text. Manual typing is supported as a secondary input method.
Step-by-Step Solutions
Every answer is paired with a structured explanation that breaks the problem into sequential steps. This supports comprehension rather than answer retrieval alone and allows users to apply the same method to similar problems.
Built-In Advanced Calculator

Development Process

Challenges
Three issues shaped the build. OCR accuracy across handwritten, low-light, and angled photos required tuning the pipeline through the first five releases. Cost control under a freemium model meant building caching, prompt compression, and answer reuse into v1.0 before launch. Answer reliability was the third — verification logic, format constraints, and retry handling were added to keep error rates low in an education app where a confident wrong answer carries real risk.
Project Requirements
The client required a homework assistance application usable by school-age students without prior instruction. The application needed to cover multiple academic subjects, support both iOS and Android at launch, extend to iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro, and include monetization at version 1.0. Continuous post-launch iteration was a defined requirement, with a target turnaround for user-reported issues within a single school week.
